Product Summary
Conduct freefall experiments by dropping this Picket Fence through a PASCO Photogate, recording the times at which the leading edge of each opaque bar blocks the photogate. Calculate speed and find the acceleration due to gravity from the slope of a graph of speed versus time.
The distance from the leading edge of each opaque bar to the leading edge of the next opaque bar is 5.0 cm. The Picket Fence has seven black bars.

Freefall of a Picket Fence
A picket fence is dropped through a photogate and the slope of the graph of average velocity versus time gives the acceleration of the falling object.
Freefall Picket Fence
In this lab, students generate velocity vs. time graph for a picket fence free-falling through a Photogate. Then, students will use their graphs to determine the acceleration due to gravity.
