Conductivity Concepts in Chemistry

Studying conductivity gives students insight into the relationships among atoms, molecules, and ions when compounds are dissolved. Chemical reactions are more accessible to be studied in solution. A conductivity sensor is a powerful tool to indicate changes in ion concentrations through dissociation into solution, through precipitation out of solution, or through creation of covalent substances like water. Conductivity is also a great measure of overall water quality, indicating total ionic load in water measurements.... more »
