Solar eclipses are truly magical events that provide insight to phenomena far greater than what happens to sunlight down here on Earth. Beyond planning to watch the occurrences (October 14, 2023 annular solar eclipse | April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse), prepare to engage your students with interactive activities that highlight the importance of the sun.

We invite you to join us for this 60-minute session to plan for the upcoming eclipses with methods to interest students in the world around them (even if it is a bit out of this world).

Activities include:

  • Measuring how much cooling an eclipse provides
  • Modeling the change in light from the sun during an eclipse
  • Using a pinhole camera to image the sun

This Earth Day, engage your students in a local investigation of a global phenomenon using Wireless CO2  and Temperature Sensors.

Rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, a product of respiration and combustion, are a leading cause of global climate change. While chemically non-reactive in most environments, carbon dioxide acts as a heat trap in the atmosphere, preventing heat that rises from the earth’s surface from escaping in the form of infrared radiation. This phenomenon is known as the greenhouse effect.

In this interactive webinar, we will explore methods for modeling the greenhouse effect in your local environment.

  • Learn how to quantitatively demonstrate the heat-retaining effects of atmospheric carbon dioxide by collecting data with the Wireless CO2 Sensor.
  • Explore a hands-on Earth Day activity designed to develop students' knowledge of the greenhouse effect through hands-on data collection, visualization, and analysis.
